Description

Pope Francis is called by many "the pope of the poor."

On March 13, 2013, when the cardinals in conclave appointed Pope Francis as the new head of the Catholic Church, no one could have anticipated that a septuagenarian and unknown cardinal outside the Vatican could give a change of course to Catholicism.

The first image of Pope Francis, a man with simple gestures, a shy appearance, hidden behind round glasses, concealed the statesman and charismatic man who has taken the reins of the Catholic Church with force.

The new pope has shown a very different style than his predecessors. His words are direct, his gestures forceful and he speaks in a language that everyone can understand perfectly.

From the first moment, Pope Francis has imposed the most ambitious reforms of the curia and the Catholic Church since the Second Vatican Council.

Pope Francis' new line has focused on transparency, control of Vatican affairs, and the desire to return the illusion to millions of Catholics worldwide.

What is Pope Francis' vision regarding secularization, poverty and the controversial issues that the Church has faced in recent years?

Will Pope Francis be able to create a revolution within the oldest institution on Earth?

Mario Escobares historian, writer and lecturer. Among the characters he has biographed are Pope Francis himself, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King and Steve Jobs. Escobar, who lives in Madrid, is passionate about history and its mysteries.
